I have been invite to the RAW Artist Showcase!

I am so excited because i’ve been invited to showcase my work at The RAW Artists showcasing! I have never showcased any of my work to the public beyond my instagram account!

Im very proud of myself for actually following through and exploring and further developing investing my craft! It was about a year and a half ago, I was on a student trip for my job and one of the students noticed me snapping shots of flowers on my camera phone. We were at the Disneyland theme park in Anaheim, California. The group of students had just finished presenting their service learning projects, that they created through a virtual exchange program. They were trying to make a difference in their community by creating a sustainable service project that pertained to reaching the United Nations 2030 Sustainable development goals for world.

As we explored the theme park and talked more about our lives and families and I showed her a few other pics she begin encouraging me to really invest in my craft. So after the trip concluded I was really inspired and thought about the way that capturing images made me feel and I knew that she had added more sparks to reignited the dwindling flame for a passion that had not been fully explored!

A month later I purchased my Canon Rebel camera and really begin creating!I really appreciate all the people that believed in my dreams and wanted to create with me of the past year and a half!

Fast forwarding back to this current time and reality, I notice the real irony of the conference her encouragement…The conference was themed “Dare to DREAM”!I took a lot away from that experience, learned a lot at the conference and so much from all the diffrent students that were apart of the trip. I’m so blessed to have had that experience with the students, watching them grow throughout the program and supporting them with their endeavors! The biggest lesson learned is that a DREAM is noting without action and some of your biggest supporters are the ones you never expect! Looking forward to this showcase on October 17th!

I have had this blog since 2016 and I never publicly post any of the stuff I actually do write on this blogging platform…I have so many ideas and other things that I want to talk about as well as sharing all of my travel experiences!

So i’ll continue to blog and give you a piece of The Real Courtney Katrice! Thanks for reading and if you have any ideas for blog post please comment and share!

I grew up in Prince Georges County, Maryland; I currently reside in Washington D.C. I am 27 years old and working towards a degree in political science, part time at Bowie State University. I work for a nonprofit that promotes the learning of Arabic and Middle Eastern cultures, as an operations/programs associate and I assist the executive director. My favorite color is lime green and I I love to travel, go to museums, read and listen to music. I’m mother to a 1 year old yorkie-poo , named Kristopher Jaxson better known as KJ! I really begin taking photos in high school for the year book and in an after school program called “ The Flat Earth Society”. I have always had a love for photography growing up but until most recently I was inspired to follow a dream and start to really explore my passions! I purchased a camera and begin taking shots of whatever I was most drawn too! I really love to take landscape, street photography, fashion, candid shots, conceptual shots, murals, animals and flowers! I love working with people especially in outdoor settings or just in the streets! Photography is my way of sharing my views of the world with others and it pleases me when I can capture unique moment's of others for them to share with their love ones! Waking up everyday and wanting to experience something new each day is what is motivates and inspires me most. Being in nature is also very impactful and helps me to think, it's very inspiring to know that there is so much here on earth for us to explore! Doing something adventurous like hiking or traveling and learning about history and diffrent cultures are all very inspiring to me and motivates me to keep creating. I aspire to travel internationally capturing cultivating abstract shots of places, animals, and people then share them with the world!
